By doing a walk through of your home's perimeter, you can get a feel for how your home presents. This is very important as a burglar will usually "size up" a home from the outside, before choosing to burglarize or break in. Your home's curb appeal so to speak, should send a tough message to any would be burglars. A secure looking home is the number one deterent for burglars. If there is a chance the burglar will be caught in the act of comitting the crime, usually the burglar will try to find an easier target. Inside the home it is important to make sure a burglar does not have easy access to items of high worth. This can be achieved by securing valuables in a room, or more conviniently in a safe. Safes can be wall mounted, hidden in the floor of a room or closet, or placed in plain sight.
